We had never booked a “vacation rental property” before, but it seemed like an interesting idea.\u00a0 When Carol and I were planning a relaxing vacation in San Diego, I found this property right on the beach in Imperial Beach, which is just south of San Diego, right at the end of the “Silver Strand” that comes off of Coronado Island.\u00a0 See map here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For less than the price of a comparable hotel room on the San Diego Bay, we got a 2-bedroom condo right on the beach.\u00a0 From our balcony, we watched dolphins and seals, surfers and sunbathers, and sunsets and moonsets.\u00a0 We slept to the sounds of waves splashing on the beach all night, woke to fresh coffee in the kitchen and relaxed on the balcony for nearly 2 hours each morning, before heading out to see the sights.\u00a0 When we got back, it’s back out on the balcony for the sunset and the cool, refreshing ocean breeze.<\/p>\n

Imperial Beach is quiet, yet only a couple of miles from I-5 and quick access to San Diego attractions (without having to fight San Diego city traffic!).\u00a0 Here’s what we visited in May 2014:<\/p>\n
